Buying barefoot shoes online??
Measure. Your. Feet.
Sure, you may "usually" be a particular size, but sadly, assuming it's the same for every brand and every style is likely to lead to exchanges that cost you time and money.
Don't worry though, we are here to help!
Read on for written instructions, or keep scrolling for a video on the process!
The dreaded foot measuring process, made easy
Here are two ways to measure your feet:
The Wall Method
This is the one we recommend you do first - it is the most accurate. Always measure both feet!
You'll need:
-
Paper
-
Pen or pencil
-
Thick book/block
-
Ruler/tape measure

The paper goes on the ground, up against a flat wall.
Stand on the paper, heel to the wall. Put your standing weight on this foot and ensure your toes are relaxed to their full length!

Use the book/block to place up against your longest toe.

Step off the paper, the book/block now gives you a solid place to draw a line.

Measure from the edge of the page to the line and voilà! You have your foot length.

Do this same process with the other foot, then to get your width, you do the same thing, just with one side of the foot up against the wall instead of your heel.

The Tracing Method
This is useful to do too, especially when first buying barefoot shoes. It gives you a good picture of your foot shape which impacts which brands and styles will suit your feet.
Usually the measurements you get from tracing will be around 0.5cm more than you get from the Wall Method.
You'll need:
-
Paper
-
Pen or pencil
-
Ruler/tape measure
Place the paper on a solid flat surface (not carpet!).
Stand on the paper. Put your standing weight on this foot and ensure your toes are relaxed to their full length!
Draw all the way around your foot, keeping the pen close!

Measure the distance from your heel to your longest toe.

Then measure the width at the widest point - this may be on a slight diagonal.

How do I find my size?
Most size charts will have length and width of the insole for each size.
Once you have your actual measurements (from the Wall Method), you find the size that gives you an appropriate amount of space/leeway over your foot length.
For most shoes, leeway will be between 0.7 and 1.2cm.
For example: If your foot length is 25cm, you need the insole length to be between 25.7cm and 26.2cm.
The amount of leeway may need to be different depending on the style.
We have fit guides and size guides on every product listing so make sure you check them out to help you decide the right size for your feet!
Some final tips
-
Always measure both feet!
-
If one foot is bigger, choose the size based on your bigger foot.
-
Re-measure your feet regularly, they can change especially in the early years of going barefoot!
-
If you're choosing shoes to wear with socks, measure your feet with the socks on.
-
Length and width are a great starting point for getting shoes that fit well, but they are not the whole picture. Your foot shape and volume (how much vertical space you need) also play a big role.
